Programs

Salus offers a brick and mortar space for 2SLGBTQIA+ groups in Lansing to gather!  Contact each group to get involved.

Don't see what you're looking for? Start a group at Salus! If you have a group, organization, or idea, contact us at info@saluscenter.org. We would love to offer space for more social groups based on a shared interest, so reach out if you have something you want to make happen!

Groups individually decide which interaction mode (in person, online, hybrid, or offsite) they will use to meet. We empower groups to choose the methods that are most accessible to their needs, and we encourage folks to reach out to group leaders for any questions or concerns about safety and logistics. Meeting listings on our Calendar or Facebook page have the latest information about location, date and time, and additional group gatherings.

Our center has a small kitchenette and one large and one small meeting room. We are on the ground floor and wheelchair accessible. There is one accessible bathroom. Google has a 360° view of our space. Salus can accommodate events and gatherings of up to 49 people.

Check out our calendar for upcoming events!

Small kitchenette insite Salus includes a counter space, microwave, and fridge.
A meeting room inside Salus has two sofas, a coffee table, bean bags, and a card table. There are various pride flags hung in the windows on one wall.

Peer Support Groups

Our peer support groups are spaces to connect with others over shared identities and experiences. With the exception of TRUE, our teen group, all are for adults only. All are led by and exclusively for the people within that identity group. (This includes people questioning or exploring their sexuality or gender identity who may not be sure yet if they fall within that identity group!)

Meetings are scheduled on a monthly basis, so it may be easier to find the next meeting time by looking at our calendar. Occasionally group meetings must be cancelled or rescheduled; updates will be noted on the calendar and our social media.

Write Hear 4 Queer

Sometimes writing in a vacuum is too isolating; sometimes writing can only be done alone. For some, writing has been a long-cherished and subsequently over-weighted expectation and the writing self continues to go neglected and unaddressed. Sitting together in a safe space cast for the purpose of opening the writing vein among others also facing this terrain is one way to approach the calling we know as writing. Sitting with others makes it safer to enter the wild, unknown territory of our imaginations and creativity while lending support and kinship--"community," in a word. The mission is expression through the vision of writing in community.

Sponsored Organizations

Sponsored organizations are grassroots projects that the Salus Center supports through fiscal sponsorship. This allows smaller organizations to receive grant funding, tax-deductible donations, and other financial and legal benefits from 501(c)3 nonprofit status. We work closely with these organizations, however they are operated separately from the Salus Center with their own missions, goals, and members.
