Steal away to Prom 2026: Carnival Extravaganza! Join us for a night of high-flying revelry, daring community, and extravagant dance. Leave your worries behind and join the Carnival!

Event Highlights:

• DJ and Dancing, featuring DJ Rinbossanova

• Royal Court, hosted by Fantasthma

• Photo Stations and Photo Booth

Ticket Options: This is a ticketed event. All attendees must have a ticket to enter. This event is a major part of Salus Center’s success–ticket sales directly benefit the Salus Center and our incredible programming! 

• Prom Goer - $30: Your invitation to the festivities!

• Pay it Forward - $60: Covers admission for you, helps fund community tickets, and increases our fundraising from the event.

• Friend of Salus - sliding scale: Pay what you can to come to the carnival! If you can afford a smaller ticket price or if you can spare a more extravagant amount, either is appreciated. Every dollar helps us cover the cost of the event and increase the funds we raise from the party!

• Community Ticket - free:  Everyone is welcome, and we don't want anyone to miss out on the event due to lack of funds.

Leave the world behind at Prom 2026: Carnival Extravaganza! Our lineup includes:

• DJ and Dancing: Can-can you dance to your heart’s content? DJ Rinbossanova will keep the tunes spinning like a sparkling merry go-round all night long.  

  • About your DJ: Rinbossanova is a multi‑disciplinary musician rooted in Lansing’s vibrant underground scene. A fashion and graphic designer as well. Their eclectic sound palette spans hyper‑pop, high‑energy techno, alternative dance, and electro pop. 

• Bars: Enjoy a themed cocktail (or mocktail!) at one of our fully staffed bars. The Venue accepts cash, card, or tap for drinks. Fountain drinks will be available for a fee and water will be complimentary. 

• Carnival Court: Witness the crowning of Prom Royalty as they grace the event with extravagant charm and daring looks, adding a touch of carnival splendor to the festivities. Contestants will be invited to the stage for the audience to vote on our winners.

  • Hosted by & featuring a performance from our Prom Queen of Drag: Fantasthma 

  • The category is…

    • Ringmaster: This will be awarded to the person that the crowd votes best captures the carnivalistic revelry with their outfit!

    • Extravaganza Eleganza: This will be awarded to the person that the crowd votes best embodies the extravaganza of it all, darling!

    • Double Trouble: When one just isn’t enough, get two! We’re looking for the pair with the best matching or complimentary outfits, so coordinate with a friend or a date for a chance at this title!

  • About your Prom Queen of Drag: Get your inhalers ready for Fantasthma! The derby doll of Michigan is your current East Lansing Pride Crown Royal as well the reigning Mx Metropolitan Gay Pride and the 2025 Regal Beagle Creature of the Night. Her monthly open stage, Genesis, celebrates Michigan’s alternative drag scene. With her signature blend of glamor, horror, and camp, Lansing’s own agile asthmatic is ready to take your breath away.

  • How to Compete: You don't need to do anything ahead of Prom to sign up. When it's time for the Royal Court, Fantasthma will invite competitors on stage for each category, and the winners will be chosen by audience applause. 

• Photo Stations: Capture unforgettable moments with friends and loved ones at our themed photo stations, offering the perfect backdrop for your carnival escapades.

The more sponsors we get, the more of the event cost we cover, meaning more ticket sales go directly to the Salus Center!

What is the dress code for Prom 2026: Carnival Extravaganza?

• Formal attire is encouraged but not at all required. Wear what you wish you could've worn to your prom! This is meant to be a formal, fancy affair, so you can’t be overdressed! 

• This year’s theme has many interpretations. Feel free to incorporate the theme in your own way: town carnival, big tent circus, Moulin Rouge fever dream, Carnival of Venice (Carnevale di Venezia), Brazil’s Carnival, and the like. Costumes are welcome but not required. 

Is there an age requirement to attend prom?

• Prom 2026 is open to adults aged 18 and above. All attendees wishing to drink alcoholic beverages must present a valid ID to purchase.

Are tickets refundable if I can't attend the event?

• Unfortunately, tickets are non-refundable. However, tickets are transferable, so you can give or sell your ticket to someone else if you're unable to attend.

Will there be food and beverages available at the prom?

• Yes, we will have complimentary hors d'oeuvres and small desserts at the event. Cocktails, mocktails, and fountain drinks will be available for purchase.

• Payment at The Venue bar can be made via cash, card, or tap. 

Is parking available at the venue?

• Yes, there is ample parking available on-site. 

Are 2SLGBTQIA+ allies welcome at Prom 2026?

• Absolutely! Prom 2026 is a celebration of diversity and inclusion, and allies are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Will there be accessibility accommodations available at the venue?

• Yes, the venue is accessible to individuals with mobility challenges. If you require specific accommodations, please contact us in advance so we can ensure your needs are met.

Can I bring my own camera or take photos at the event?

• Yes, you are welcome to take photos for personal use. We also have themed photo stations and a photo booth available for capturing magical memories throughout the night.

Is there a designated smoking area at the venue?

• Smoking is only permitted in designated outdoor areas of the venue. Please be mindful of others and dispose of cigarette butts properly.

Will there be security personnel at the event?

• Yes, we prioritize the safety and well-being of all attendees, and security personnel will be present throughout the event to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for everyone.
